Dear Marla,
One very important aspect of establishing any sort of metric system is consistency.
For example, somewhere I may have mentioned that we'll allow 1% coverage for each eye or mouth hole which exposes skin to the air. (They are "aerobic", i.e. exposed to air.)
I think I will refer to suit holes of this sort as "ports" because they are a point of entry/exit between the perceptual realms of Aerobia and Anaerobia.
For consistency, we will presume each of these ports are about 1 inch in diameter and have a HITEz value of 1%.
So, if some garment is 99% coverage, we can assume that the only opening is a mouth hole. Similarily, a garment with 2 eye holes and no mouth hole would be a 98% coverage. Note that some 'reasonable' facility for breathing. e.g. nostril holes, tubes, etc., is usually exempted from this. That it, we ignore them in our /HITEz calculations.
